After a Supreme Court vacation bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah on Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking a stay on the mahapanchayat proposed by right-wing groups at Purola in Uttarkashi, the petitioner — Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) — sought permission to withdraw the petition and approached the HC.
DEHRADUN: After a Supreme Court vacation bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah on Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking a stay on the mahapanchayat proposed by right-wing groups at Purola in Uttarkashi, the petitioner — Association for Protection of Civil Rights ( APCR ) — sought permission to withdraw the petition and approached the HC. APCR is an NGO of advocates and social activists led by Bombay HC advocate Yusuf Hatim Muchhala. It provides free legal services to the underprivileged part of the society.
According to the officials, the writ has not yet been submitted to the registry office and the date and time for hearing the matter will be fixed after the submission of the petition. The petitioner has also written to the chief secretary and director general of police to take suo motu action against hate speeches.
